This always makes me smile.

That’s all I ask for, just 90 seconds of your life Johnny, that’s it.

For anyone who sucks, let me bring you up to speed.  There was a movie which was released in 1991 called ‘Point Break’.  This movie featured territorial surfers, FBI agents, bank robberies, shootouts, skydiving, naked females and meatball sandwiches, best i ever tasted.  This movie was shown to me by my late uncle and literally changed my life.  I literally frequent secret beaches with chemical signatures similar to the Ex President’s home break, I say ‘Brah’ far too often and have been robbing banks in the LA area for years to fuel my endless summer.

The movie ended with surfer/bank robber Bodhi (Patrick Swayze) paddling into massive death defying Bells Beach Australia.  The movie ends, suggesting Bodhi died in the massive waves.  Apparently he didn’t die, he paddled to Indo.

The Gods have smiled on MOM by giving the green light to ‘Point Break Indo’.  Internet sources are buzzing with speculation about the return of the original stars. Here is a brief synopsis I found online:

When Billy Dalton, military special ops and star surfer, is
disqualified from the pro-surfing tour, he takes off for the coast of
Bali looking for the perfect wave.  While there he’s recruited by a
private security force who are trying to find a gang known as The Bush
Administration, surfing outlaws and modern day pirates who work like
“The Ex-Presidents,” a bank robbing crew from Malibu twenty years ago.

The Bush Administration!! Holy shit, thats amazing.  Casting news has not been released, but it is rumored Reeves will not return, but as long as Bodhi lives I’m happy.

Jan de Bont will be directing and the production company believes that
they will be filming the “most extreme action stunts ever caught on
camera
.”

If anyone has noticed all trash talking from my fantasy football team, ‘The Ex Presidents’ in will be carried out using lines from the original ‘Point Break’.  (That team name is picked prior to the news for the sequel.) I’ve actually handed over management duties of the EX Presidents to A&D so I could focus full time on ‘Point Break’ trash talking.

Needless to say I’ll be somewhere sweet in LA on opening night, drunk and in costume.  If they film in IMAX, I’m there.

‘The Dark Knight’ is to Letters
as
‘Point Break Indo’ is to MOM.

Filming may not have even started yet, so speculation about release dates may be a bit premature, but I think a surfer party is in order, maybe a little beach football, tequila shots, bonfire, stealth mission. Who knows?

“Life sure has a sick sense of humor, doesn’t it?”

Best Film of 2008 – Dungeon Siege

There’s a lot of hype surrounding indie flicks No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, Juno, and Atonement?  But this year’s, yes 2008 has just started and it’s early, clear winner is Dungeon Siege’s "In The Name of the King."  Released today, this medieval romp is jam packed with stars such as the Transporter Jason Statham, the Bandit Burt Reynolds, the Mallrat Claire Forlani, the Goodfella Ray Liotta, and the funnyman Matthew Lillard.  With direction by Uwe Boll, you are guaranteed a good time.  So skip whatever indie flick is left on your list, you’re not going to look smart come Oscar time just for having seen all the nominees, and check out this film before it goes to DVD next week.

I can’t link directly to it, but if you go to the videos section, there is a clip titled Pancakes & Camels that I thought you would all enjoy, if not for it’s flapjackian reference, then for Will Ferrell and his camel talk.

If this weekend’s any indication of Will Smith’s box office draw, then this movie is going to have more sequels than Police Academy, each of which will marginally less enjoyable then an elephant performed colon cleanse.

The State of the Many Roles of Kurt Russell Address

Russell

In just two days, we will be uniting to form the MANY ROLES OF KURT RUSSELL.  For those of you who missed the first post, we will be uniting to form the MANY ROLES OF KURT RUSSELL at Amanda’s house in Los Feliz this Saturday night.  Here’s her address:

3424 Lambeth Street
Los Angeles, CA 90027

Here’s a "Breakdown" of who’s coming and which Kurt Russell they will be portraying:

– Minister of Media and Technology will be Jack Burton from "Big Trouble in Little China."
– Minister of MOM will be Snake Plissken from "Escape from L.A."
– Minister of Competition will be solar explorer, Col. Jonathan ‘Jack’ O’Neil from "Stargate."
– Minister of Rousing will be Dean Proffitt from "Overboard."
– Minister of Interior Design will be Coach Herb Brooks from "Miracle."
– Minister of Letters will be Michael Zane from "3,000 Miles to Graceland."
– Minister of Defense will be McCabe from "Vanilla Sky."
– Future Minister and IFS blood relative Ryan Maughan will be Stephen ‘Bull’ McCaffrey from "Backdraft."
– Longtime Friend of IFS and forever welcome Guest Member Ben Persons will be Captain Ron from "Captain Ron."

That’s nine Kurt Russells by my count, just shy of double digit Kurt Russells.  Now, I know that Health/Trade will be attending the party – so if he dresses up as a Kurt Russell, then we’ll have ten Kurt Russells total.  Also, Philanthropy is attempting to shift his work schedule around so he can make it as well.  International Affairs, Maritime, Athletics and Shwayne, we haven’t heard anything from you four so please comment on this post with your status.  Younger/Taller/Athleticer and Letters will be coming down from SB, and Media will be coming up from the OC, so finding a ride should not be a problem.  Also, here’s some last minute costume suggestions that should be easy to throw together:

– As Jeff Taylor in "Breakdown," Kurt wears a Ralph Lauren polo tucked in to khakis, and cool sunglasses:
Breakdown

– Kurt wears a tux in "Executive Decision" and a black suit in Poseidon (granted, you’d have to jump in a shower for this one).
– Wyatt Earp – we still  need one.  Calls for a taller man with a strong mustache and a cowboy outfit, so I’m thinking Esteban.  Whoever takes this role, the all black getup would be the right way to do it.
– "Dark Blue" would be easy.  Black collared shirt, leather jacket, light blue jeans and black sneakers:
Darkblue

Anyways, just some ideas.  Like Competition commented earlier, this seems destined as Kurt Russell made a strong appearance on South Park last night.  I hope everyone can make it.  The more Russells the better.

– Rousing
