Las Vegas: The Return: A Double Chinned Birthday Celebration

Dear the International Flapjack Society,

It’s time. After weeks of email chatter, it’s happening. IFS returns to Vegas. And this time, we celebrate the birth of two of our strongest Chinisters: MOM and MBM. It’s gonna be hyuuuuuuhhjge.

First off, the dates. Our suite at the Hilton Grand Vacations Resort is reserved for June 18th and 19th. Here’s what I have for a basic plan so far:

June 18th: Arrive, check-in. The group amasses as the stragglers make there way out to the desert. Moons plays a midnight poker tourney downtown, you know, old Vegas, if you don’t you can read more about it here. This is a potential first night option, at least for the gamblers.  Let’s leave Friday open as it will be tough to plan with the disparity in ETAs. Suggestions are of course welcomed.

June 19th:

  • the Morning: Group sleeps. Rousing and Full-blood suffer through a two hour time share meeting with the Hilton people. Wheeeew!
  • the Mid-morning, noon: Pool party (cool party). For those of you who made it to Schroeder’s 34th in Vegas last year, you’ll agree that the pool party is a necessary clam, jam, we had a blast. Booze jam, water jam, women clam vs. Losing money indoors. So start gettin’ your traps hyuuge.
  • the Early evening: I see the pool party wrapping up around 5 or so, at which point we head back to the Hilton and prepare for…
  • the Evening, 7:30: IFS: Vegas: The Second Supper. I’m working on a getting us a small banquet room at the Hilton for dinner. Not the coolest spot to have our supper, but the most practicable. Of course, the meeting/supper location is open for debate.
  • the Night: Post meeting, drunk, attacking the city. We can settle on a bar or a club, or a few bars and and a few clubs. Again, let’s talk about it. Moons likes to watch the dueling pianos at the Bar at Times Square in the New York New York joint, cause he don’t like the clubs.
  • Sunday: oh no…

Ok, so that is a very very basic outline of the weekend. Plan on spending about $30 – $45 for two nights in the suite, depending on how many monks end up going.

We need to finalize: potential Friday night activities, the pool location, and Saturday night’s destinations. I hope Saturday evening supper meeting works for everyone – the time share meeting must take place in the morning, so I can’t do the early meet jam on Sat.

Please RSVP to this post with a comment. This is going to be so, so strong…and for me at least, it might look something like this:

Gosselin, abolute playaaaah.

Good night, and good flapjack,

Hey fellas.. I’m looking into a room, so I probably won’t be staying in the room full of monks cause I can get a good deal myself. I will keep you posted if I have some space for a few people as time gets closer, depends on if one my lady friends flies out from home to hang out for the weekend. I’m in for everything else, but may skip the pool afternoon cause that may be my day in the Sportsbook.. but I can’t wait to party with everyone! Are people planning on driving from the LA area?

Right, very swamped right now…this is what the fund is for. We’ll need some sort of cabana or lounge area for the pool and then probably cover charges for whatever bar or club we go to. The fund should cover both. Will you just withdraw the accumulated funds for those that are there? How will that work jam?

I was joking about not going to the pool, it sounds awesome. Plus I get to rep my freshman 15. Tis’ thanks for planning this, cause I know you’re so unbelievably swamped right now……the trip is going to be a burn-down. We should start talking about IFS funds……room payment, pool reservation, meeting/dinner, Jordan placing some sporting bets as an IFS investment?

As I mentioned in the email chain, that has since consumed all remaining cyber memory, I’m in. I think saturday pool/night meeting sounds great. My question is about suits and when we will wear them…

I’m flying the little lady in for the weekend for her first exposure to full flapjack mania, so the options were to either get a semi-quiet room (in the same hotel), or let her try and jockey for bed space with Lex and Glory. Don’t worry Lex, I’m dere. I wouldn’t miss the flapjack supper/birthday celebration. As far as the pool is concerned… Last time, a few chinisters got a little carried away early in the day, which in some ways is almost perfect because a late afternoon siesta is normally necessary to re-rally and go uuuuhhhhje (all night). However if we’re planning “the supper”, heavy day drinking might take away from that experience. Id say we get to the pool early, and push dinner to 9:00ish, we’ll be golden.

Absolutely in for the vegas jam, jam. The pool was the highlight of the weekend and i agree with Rousing when he says that anyone who was “ACTUALLY DERE” and didn’t enjoy themselves should speak up- those who were not DERE due to going at least 10 times as huge as everyone else (as evidenced by all the craaaacceee things he was doing that other were not) should have no say in the matter and work on trying to keep up with the young ones (at least at heart) and not show his rather mature age.
Having said that, he is turning 30 so maybe his opinion should count. What say the other birthday boy? and why he so special for not to stay with the strongness of rest?

We can debate as to whether we do the pool jam – if you were actually there last time and didn’t enjoy it, speak up. Though I think the pics that Meredith took kind of speak for themselves.

(in an angry baby-voice): “I didn’t do it the fuurst tyme cause I was awll pooped out, so I don’t wike it now! Waaaaaaah!!!”

This looks Chintastic! Count me and Scooby in for the throw down. Get ready to play Pai Gow Poker for fifteen hours. Also, I heard that the pool event during Schroeder’s bday wasn’t that cool. I mean that’s just what a lot of people were saying around me when Schroeder was in the other room or something. I would have made it, but as usual MBM reverted to Minister of R&S at went at least two to three times as huge as everybody else. Especially Chuck who kept saying “I’m just trying to maintain a steady buzz.”

I am in for the room and party making. Can’t wait to have the official Spring / Summer meeting.

Is anyone considering flying out or are we carpooling? It’s price to fly, but so much more playhuuuur.

Hyuuuuuuhhjge!!! I can’t wait. Count me out for a room though, I got my own room. Way to take the bullet on the timeshare meeting for the benefit of the group. A true team player. Danke schön!
