A little stability for you Afghanistan, Love IFS

Haltaf_Group.jpgThe ancient Persians called it “the land of the unruly.” President Obama calls Afghanistan something else: The “central front” in the battle against terrorism.  I call it, “a little more business friendly.”

Afghanistan is by far the most unstable country in the volatile middle east and IFS has done a little bit towards helping bring stability and peace to the region.

The Minister of Philanthropy kindly set up our Team IFS KIVA account which allows anyone to make small business loans to entrepreneurs around the world.  KIVA is very easy to use and I encourage everyone to take a look.  It is after a long IFS weekend a little self-reflection goes a long way.  We truly live charmed lives and not everyone gets to have awesome Super Bowl weekends, Pancake Breakfasts, beer and delcious homemade meatball and sausage sandwiches.  (Thank you again Rabbi)  With this in mind, I felt a little Philanthropy would set my head right and clear my proverbial hangover.

This afternoon I donated a $25 to the Heltaf group in Afghanistan in the name of IFS.  Although a meager donation I hope to set an example by extending our Philanthropic ventures around the world.  You can donate to people from Cambodia to Mexico to Ghana, it is my hope we can extend our reach around the globe.

Meerwais is the group leader of Heltaf group. There are five members in
this group and they all live in district 11 of Kabul, Afghanistan. They
want to take a group loan to expand and bring some changes in their
businesses.

Meerwais wants to take the loan for his tailoring shop.

Farhed
wants to receive the loan for his car part shop.

Mohammad Zarif for
carpet weaving.

Mohammad Khalid for his burger shop.

Abdul Qadir for
his business of selling clothes from a cart.

They say that, “the loan process is a good process which can support all entrepreneurs around the world.”

Good Luck Heltaf Group!  Make IFS proud.

P.S.  While our band of Nicaraguan Mercenaries hunt down Senor Oscar Ruperto Mayorga GarciaI I decided to lend to a lower risk group. I noticed their delinqunecy and default rate are both 0% so maybe we’ve got a better chance of seeing our money back compared to Senor Swindles ‘a’ Lot.

This is a great post MOM. I think we can continue to donate and track our impact throughout the years. My hopes is that IFS will be the top donating team! I’m will donate as soon as I get my horrible internet working again…

We all should have received R&S’s email this morning, but if you are looking to donate you can donate a dollar to the Children’s Miracle Network at IHOP up till Pancake Day. I did so today and it felt so good.

Invest in either Africa or Asia. That way we’ll have greater geographic coverage. Spread our seed.

I almost invested today, but didn’t want to overshadow. I will do it tomorrow.
