The gods of law and flapjacks have not smiled upon me.  After booking my ticket to SB for the 4th anniversary of our glorious organization I have been informed that a final exam which was originally scheduled for Friday morning is now going to be held at 2:00 pm.  because my flight was scheduled to leave at 2:44 is goes w/o saying I will not be boarding that flight.  My search for an alternative flight have been exhaustive and unfruitful. United sucks fat dick and is keeping my $300 I paid for the ticket, giving me a $150 dollar voucher towards my next United flight, and swallowing $150 for a cancelation fee.  Why, you might ask, did I not simply change the flight to a later time?  Well, the only other flight out on Friday which wasn’t booked is going for over a G.  That’s right, one thousand dollars.  Alternative airlines have not offered anything better,  the cheapest one I’ve found is on Horizon Air (around $300), but it leaves at 7:00am on Saturday.  I’ll keep shopping around…maybe if one of you guys has time to take a look you can find something.  Let me know.  Either way, I hope to see you all very soon.

If you were to cancel the ticket would you miss the meeting? Cause that sounds like a bad plan. Make it happen brother. Tell United to quit being such school boy bitches and change your schedule or else you’ll write them a letter telling them how angry you are.

I looked at Southwest, it’s $150 for a flight into LAX that would get me there at 7:15 pm. Unfortunately, if I do that I think I would forfeit the $150 cancelation fee as well as the $150 voucher from United. Grand total of $450 for a Sac-SB trip.
On the other hand, if I don’t use the return ticket and just cancel it altogether then I could use the $150 from United to come down to So-Cal at a later date. God this sucks.

    Flem jem,
That sounds pretty awesome. What about a Sac-LAX Friday Southwest afternoon flight. We can drive you north and you can still get your return flight from SB. Just an idea, usually those Southwest flights are pretty reasonable ($139). You’ll still be eating the $150 from United, but its a possible solution.
