Announcing the Return of WMD

After many months of neglect, I’ve resolved to be a better minister and resurrect the Weekly Music Downloads. They were just to young too die. So without further ado, let me introduce the bold new look of WMD and this week’s artist who I hope you will all enjoy. Flapjacks!

Weekly Music Download

Artist: Freelance Hellraiser

Album: Waiting for Clearance (2006)

Bio: Roy Kerr, aka The Freelance Hellraiser, is one of the most respected creators of the UK bootleg scene. He is credited with originating so called "Mash-ups" when he combined an instrumental edit of The Strokes’ track Hard To Explain with Christina Aguilera’s pop hit Genie in a Bottle. Although originally greeted by a cease and desist order from RCA, the genre was later embraced.

Download Track: Placebo – English Summer Rain (Freelance Hellraiser rmx)

It brings me great joy to see that the WMD has returned, with Saddam at the helm, no less. Freelance Hellraiser wasn’t exactly this Minister’s cup of tea, but I usually hate everything (music, technology, people) the first few times around. A weekly report from Germany by our own Minister of R&S also sounds great. Maybe a weekly Defense Report in the form of a photo diary is in order. Someone has to do it, since Dane sucks at life.
